Despu\u00e9s de unos minutos me autorizan el acceso y entro a parquear. Conduzco hasta el fondo del parqueadero y se hace inevitable detenerme para admirar el numeroso grupo de autom\u00f3viles BMW que descansan ante la vista de nadie. Llaman mi atenci\u00f3n, entre los diez carros que veo, dos ejemplares por su especial colorido, pues se trata de una 2002 <em>touring<\/em> naranja y un 2002 <em>targa<\/em> rojo. Estoy en el lugar correcto. Subiendo las escaleras \u00fanicamente pienso en el amor. Intento descifrar la respuesta a las tantas preguntas que me surgen sobre aquel hombre que un d\u00eda se enamor\u00f3 de BMW. Hay tanto por observar que no logro concentrarme en nada. El espacio est\u00e1 decorado con carros BMW escala 1:18, una mesa cuya base es el motor de un M6 y una motocicleta R56 que reposa junto al escritorio. Recorro la oficina apreciando cada uno de los detalles que le dan ese ingrediente m\u00e1gico que solo los gomosos podemos entender. Llego entonces a una puerta de vidrio que llam\u00f3 mi atenci\u00f3n desde que entr\u00e9, pues al otro lado se encuentra la galer\u00eda privada de aquel hombre que a\u00fan permanece al tel\u00e9fono.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La galer\u00eda del coleccionista es, sin duda alguna, el espacio m\u00e1s llamativo y \u00fanico que he conocido en Colombia en cuanto al tema de los BMW cl\u00e1sicos. De las paredes cuelgan las insignias de la marca, adem\u00e1s de sus banderas y dise\u00f1os. El suelo est\u00e1 pintado casi en su totalidad de azul, a excepci\u00f3n de un espacio que enmarca la cuadr\u00edcula blanca y negra del automovilismo. Se prende la luz e inicia el viaje hist\u00f3rico por la marca b\u00e1vara. En la galer\u00eda caben ocho carros que su due\u00f1o intenta rotar con cierta regularidad. En el momento me encuentro con un 2002 amarillo, un E30 <em>cabrio<\/em> rojo, un 1800 beige, un M3 E30 negro, un M3 E36 blanco, un E24 vino tino, un 135i uva y un Datsun 240z blanco. El estado de los carros es simplemente impresionante, siendo la mayor\u00eda de ellos conservados.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1285\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1285\" style=\"width: Me encuentro con un hombre callado que se limita a observarme mientras yo termino de recorrer la galer\u00eda y tomar unas cuantas fotograf\u00edas. Observo todo con mucho cuidado para no perderme de ning\u00fan detalle hasta que el coleccionista me dice que no tiene mucho tiempo entonces entramos nuevamente a la oficina para conversar. Se trataba de un Ford 34 con porta suegras, algo muy valorado en su momento y ahora. Recuerda entre risas que la manera para financiarse era llevando a los compa\u00f1eros al barrio, cobr\u00e1ndole 50 centavos a cada uno. Con este dinero pod\u00eda costear el mantenimiento general del carro y la gasolina. El padre del coleccionista era propietario de una compra venta de carros, factor que tambi\u00e9n fue determinante para sembrar en su interior el amor por estas m\u00e1quinas. La raz\u00f3n era no llamar mucho la atenci\u00f3n entre los obreros cuando se ingresara a las construcciones. Sin embargo, el carro estaba muy deteriorado y fue necesaria una restauraci\u00f3n. Fue con ese ejercicio que realmente comenz\u00f3 la afici\u00f3n por los cl\u00e1sicos. Despu\u00e9s lleg\u00f3 una 2002 <em>touring <\/em>naranja que cari\u00f1osamente bautiz\u00f3 como <em>La papaya<\/em>. Le sigui\u00f3 un E9 3.0 que su propietario considera indudablemente como la joya de la corona. Ya con tres BMW cl\u00e1sicos apareci\u00f3 la oportunidad de adquirir un 2002 amarillo completamente restaurado. Quien se lo vendi\u00f3 fue un amigo, tambi\u00e9n coleccionista, que aprovech\u00f3 la oportunidad para recomendarle que se mantuviera con una sola marca para formar su colecci\u00f3n. As\u00ed fue. Siempre ha contado con el apoyo de su familia quienes sienten la misma pasi\u00f3n por la marca BMW. El coleccionista est\u00e1 m\u00e1s c\u00f3modo que en el momento en que llegu\u00e9, pues me muestra fotos de su celular, se extiende en sus respuestas y mantiene sus pies descansando sobre el vidrio de la mesa. Me aclara que la mayor\u00eda de sus carros son restaurados y que as\u00ed los compra, pues no disfruta realmente del proceso de restauraci\u00f3n de los carros ya que se pierde mucho tiempo en talleres. Sin embargo, siempre hay que dedicarle tiempo a los autos as\u00ed ya hayan sido restaurados, pues <em>carro viejo es carro viejo<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mientras observaba la galer\u00eda del coleccionista fue inevitable ver el Datsun 240z blanco que permanec\u00eda parqueado entre el E24 y el E82, pues es el \u00fanico carro no BMW que aparece en la historia. La idea siempre fue seguir con la l\u00ednea de la marca b\u00e1vara pero lleg\u00f3 un d\u00eda en que padre e hijo conversaron acerca de qu\u00e9 carro les llamar\u00eda la atenci\u00f3n si existiera la posibilidad de salirse de BMW. Ambos concertaron que lo mejor ser\u00eda un Datsun 240z. dice estar ahora en su l\u00edmite ya que se acabaron las posibilidades de parqueadero.\u00a0 Es un tema con el que todos los gomosos deben luchar ya que nunca existe un espacio ilimitado para guardar los autos. Para evitar estos inconvenientes el coleccionista construy\u00f3 en su finca un garaje para cuatro carros, cosa que hizo cuando apenas iniciaba su colecci\u00f3n. Nunca pens\u00f3 que tendr\u00eda tantos ejemplares como los que tiene hoy. Tuvo que duplicar el garaje de la finca pero tampoco funcion\u00f3 porque los carros all\u00e1 guardados no se disfrutaban como deb\u00eda ser. Posteriormente lleg\u00f3 la oportunidad de construir el edificio donde hoy queda su galer\u00eda privada. Con el cambio de nivel del lote se pudo hacer aquel acceso completamente independiente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La idea original era que la galer\u00eda pudiera albergar 18 carros. Sin embargo, la oficina hubiera tenido que quedar arriba y para ver los carros tendr\u00eda que haber un desplazamiento hacia la zona de los garajes. De esta forma se pudo construir lo que hoy se puede llamar desde una galer\u00eda hasta un museo, algo mucho m\u00e1s importante que un garaje cualquiera. El espaci\u00f3 adem\u00e1s est\u00e1 equipado con herramientas. La idea era que los mec\u00e1nicos pudieran llegar y trabajar sobre los carros en el mismo espacio. No se logr\u00f3 pero a\u00fan as\u00ed hay cosas peque\u00f1as que s\u00ed se realizan all\u00ed. Al coleccionista no le gusta meterle la mano a los carros a menos que sea algo menor. Los Isetta son carros que se convierten en piezas de museo, pues no hay d\u00f3nde sacarlos o llevarlos. El coleccionista asegura que la magia de su colecci\u00f3n es que todos sus carros son funcionales y pueden disfrutarse. Poder usar los autos es parte fundamental del v\u00ednculo que ha generado el coleccionista con sus juguetes.\u00a0En Colombia tener un carro conlleva una serie de costos tales como el SOAT y la revisi\u00f3n t\u00e9cnico mec\u00e1nica. Es por lo anterior que el propietario de esta colecci\u00f3n ha optado por comprar SOAT para tres o cuatro carros y as\u00ed utilizarlos mientras el documento tenga vigencia. Cuando \u00e9ste se vence realiza el mismo proceso con otros carros y as\u00ed va rotando peri\u00f3dicamente los veh\u00edculos que utiliza. Este proceso implica que algunos autos est\u00e9n quietos durante un tiempo, raz\u00f3n por la cual pueden fallar en el momento de ser encendidos requiriendo as\u00ed un mantenimiento y una inversi\u00f3n adicional. Los que mejor funcionan por supuesto son los nuevos. La moto lleg\u00f3 completamente funcional y estuvo parqueada junto a los dem\u00e1s ejemplares de la colecci\u00f3n durante dos a\u00f1os. Finalmente el due\u00f1o de la moto se la ofreci\u00f3 en venta al coleccionista pero \u00e9ste no acept\u00f3 ya que nunca fue amante de las motos y no contemplaba la idea de tener algo para s\u00f3lo exhibirlo y no usarlo. Despu\u00e9s de un tiempo el se\u00f1or dijo que era inevitable la venta de la motocicleta entonces que deb\u00eda llev\u00e1rsela. Fue en el ese momento que la negociaci\u00f3n tom\u00f3 mejor forma y la moto se qued\u00f3 en la galer\u00eda. Alg\u00fan d\u00eda su hijo pens\u00f3 en meter la moto a la oficina y ah\u00ed permanece. Me pide que le d\u00e9 un momento ya que tiene que moverle la palanca. Yo sigo habl\u00e1ndole pero \u00e9l est\u00e1 completamente abstra\u00eddo, su atenci\u00f3n est\u00e1 enteramente dedicada a la motocicleta. Me asombra ver a este hombre junto a su juguete, con una expresi\u00f3n de satisfacci\u00f3n en el rostro que no puedo describir. Entonces le repito la pregunta y contin\u00faa la conversaci\u00f3n. Me cuenta que ha conocido mucha gente con la que puede compartir diferentes salidas en las que ruedan en sus autos. Lo anterior en grupos peque\u00f1os ya que dice que en los grupos grandes empiezan los se\u00f1alamientos y esto es algo que busca evitar a toda costa. No quiere ser reconocido por el tema de su colecci\u00f3n y es por esto que su galer\u00eda no es publica y es contada la gente que ha tenido la oportunidad de conocerla. Incluso alguna vez lleg\u00f3 una vendedora de Autogermana para preguntarle si sus compa\u00f1eros podr\u00edan ir a conocer la galer\u00eda. La respuesta fue negativa.\u00a0Adem\u00e1s de los autos el coleccionista cuenta con otros hobbies. Tiene una gran colecci\u00f3n de videos del Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, que muy poca gente conoce, y adem\u00e1s siempre ha tenido una c\u00e1mara en la que registra videos. De esta forma guarda recuerdos de sus hijos desde que nacieron hasta el d\u00eda de hoy. Todo lo mantiene muy organizado y disponible para verlo en cualquier momento. Adem\u00e1s, disfruta mucho de hacer manualidades. En su casa hizo un sal\u00f3n donde hay un mes\u00f3n con puertas y cajones que guardan todos los elementos necesarios para realizar cualquier tipo de actividad de carpinter\u00eda, electricidad, plomer\u00eda y mec\u00e1nica. Es totalmente independiente del apartamento y es all\u00ed donde se entretiene escuchando m\u00fasica y trabajando.<\/p>\n<p>Si tuviera que vender un carro no sabr\u00eda cu\u00e1l ser\u00eda. Se le pasa por la cabeza el E21 ya que lo considera un auto muy poco especial, aunque realmente no contempla la opci\u00f3n y menos este a\u00f1o que ese auto ser\u00e1 juzgado para recibir sus placas de cl\u00e1sico.
