Sin embargo, la mayor\u00eda de las veces pensamos en carros como el 2002 Turbo, el famoso Batim\u00f3vil (E9 3.0 CSL), el 320 Turbo (E21) o el E30 M3, por s\u00f3lo nombrar algunos. Aunque estos carros son dignos exponentes del ADN de la marca, hay uno que muchas veces pasa desapercibido a pesar de haber sido de los primeros en poner el nombre de BMW en alto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En estos d\u00edas se est\u00e1 llevando a cabo una de las carreras m\u00e1s prestigiosas y legendarias que hay en el calendario del mundo motor: la&nbsp;<em>Mille Miglia<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Fue precisamente en una de las versiones originales de esta carrera en la que el BMW 328 domin\u00f3 y cre\u00f3 unos s\u00f3lidos cimientos para la marca. La&nbsp;<em>Mille Miglia&nbsp;<\/em>es una carrera que inici\u00f3 en 1927 impulsada por 4 j\u00f3venes apasionados por el automovilismo y que fue realizada en 24 ocasiones (13 antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y 11 posterior a la misma) que hac\u00edan parte del calendario de la F\u00f3rmula 1. Sin embargo, en esta carrera no solo eran bienvenidos carros de este calibre, pues tambi\u00e9n se ve\u00edan autos como el famoso Fiat 600 o incluso aquellos que llevaban el apellido de sus fabricantes y eran creados con el prop\u00f3sito exclusivo de participar. Esta competencia representaba un reto incre\u00edble ya que usualmente se hac\u00eda el recorrido en 12 horas de carrera continua, en rutas dif\u00edciles, sorteando innumerables variables impredecibles y administrando los riesgos inherentes de este tipo de carreras. En su momento fue un carro innovador con un chasis tubular y un motor de 6 cilindros en l\u00ednea, con 2 v\u00e1lvulas por cilindro de 1.971 cent\u00edmetros c\u00fabicos y 3 carburadores Solex. La carrocer\u00eda era de aluminio y la suspensi\u00f3n, por su parte, tambi\u00e9n era bastante avanzada para la \u00e9poca. Se trataba de un veh\u00edculo que pod\u00eda alcanzar hasta 200 kil\u00f3metros por hora. En cuanto a los frenos, \u00e9stos eran hidr\u00e1ulicos de tambor en las 4 ruedas. Estas caracter\u00edsticas llevaron al BMW 328 a ser altamente competitivo desde que entr\u00f3 a las competencias. En el a\u00f1o 1938, con aproximadamente 140 carros inscritos, gan\u00f3 en su categor\u00eda en la&nbsp;<em>Mille Miglia&nbsp;<\/em>y qued\u00f3 octavo en la general. Adem\u00e1s de lograr la victoria el BMW 328 tambi\u00e9n ocup\u00f3 los siguientes 5 puestos, gan\u00e1ndole incluso a los Alfa Romeo que hasta entonces hab\u00edan sido una fuerza dominante. Me refiero a esta versi\u00f3n de la carrera como una edici\u00f3n controvertida ya que, al darse posterior a la prohibici\u00f3n de la carrera, fue promocionada como el&nbsp;<em>Gran Premio de Brescia.&nbsp;<\/em>&nbsp;Aunque fue una carrera de 1000 Millas, no se hizo el recorrido tradicional de Brescia-Roma-Brescia sino que esta vez se desarroll\u00f3 un circuito de aproximadamente 165 kil\u00f3metros (<em>Brescia-Cremona-Mantova-Brescia<\/em>) que fue recorrido 9 veces para as\u00ed lograr una distancia cercana a las 1000 Millas. Deliberadamente no se completaron las 10 vueltas necesarias para llegar a la distancia tradicional ya que Mussolini hab\u00eda prohibido la competencia. Este veh\u00edculo es tan importante para la marca que el BMW Group hace poco lo recuper\u00f3. Lo ten\u00eda un coleccionista que disfrut\u00f3 de esta joya durante 17 a\u00f1os en los que lo restaur\u00f3 y adem\u00e1s particip\u00f3 en distintos concursos de elegancia, pero m\u00e1s importante a\u00fan es que lo utiliz\u00f3 para volver a correr la versi\u00f3n actual de la&nbsp;<em>Mille Miglia<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Santiago Velandia P\u00e9rez<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cuando hablamos de BMW es imposible negar su lugar en la historia del automovilismo.
